Callsign is a UK company founded in 2012. It provides identity fraud protection, authorization and authentication products and services to banks and other public and private sector organizations. Callsign has contributed to the Singapore Model AI Framework which was released at Davos in 2020 and is a regular contributor to discussions in the media on ethical AI. The company is a partner of the London Metropolitan University’s Cyber Security Research Centre. History Callsign was founded in 2012 by Dr Zia Hayat and Ian Welch. By 2016, it had sold its product to several large companies. In 2017 it secured a $35 million Series A funding round, led by Accel, a US private equity firm. This funding round valued Callsign at more than $100m. In 2019, the company announced a partnership with Lloyds Banking Group to roll out its IDA platform across the bank's core brands. Callsign also became a World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer and has since contributed to a paper released at Davos in 2020 titled ‘Reimagining Digital Identity: A Strategic Imperative’. Products Callsign offers several proprietary capabilities. Behavioural Swipe Authentication Behavioural Swipe Authentication is Callsign's own authentication solution. It uses intelligence gathered from a user's phone as they swipe their screen to verify the user's identity. Callsign Telecoms Intelligence During an interaction or transaction, Callsign can cross-reference information provided by the user with live telecoms data. It uses this information to flag potentially fraudulent activity and prevent fraudsters from committing fraud such as account takeover. Data captured includes sim-swap, call divert, SS7 attacks and techniques to identify whether the phone has been stolen or cloned.
