PropertyGuru is a property technology company based in Singapore. Steve Melhuish and Jani Rautianen founded the company in 2007. Its main products are property search portals that charge estate agents a fee to post listings on the platforms. The company operates what some consider to be the largest real-estate marketplace in South-East Asia. History The company was founded in 2007 in Singapore. In 2011 PropertyGuru acquired DDProperty Investing which owned the Thai property search portal DDProperty. By 2015 the company operated businesses in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. The organization received funding from TPG Capital, Emtek Group and Square Peg Capital to further its presence in these markets. In 2018, the group acquired the Vietnamese property portal Batdongsan following investment from KKR & Co. Inc.. The company almost floated on the Australian Securities Exchange in 2019. However, the initial public offering did not go ahead due to market uncertainty. In 2020, the company raised an additional S$300m from its existing backers. The company's main products are its digital property marketplaces. In 2021, the business began to transition from being primarily a search-based platform to a match-based platform. The match tool analyses transaction data, listings data, and inquiry to recognise behavioural cues. The tool recommends specific listings based on the user's search activity and the types of property likely to interest them.
