Caie Wesley Graham PhD

Cdr. Caie Wesley Graham PhD. was born in Hertfordshire, England June 1941 and spent his childhood in Inverness, Scotland. After education he joined the British Army serving with the Royal Corps of Signals. Among his achievements, he climbed Kilimanjaro with a joint US European Scientific Group in 1962. Later the same year he was seconded from the British Army to the Federal Army of Aden where he taught communication skills and fought in the War of Radfan being awarded the Radfan Medal. He served in Cyprus with the United Nations in 1966 and was awarded a medal. He founded the Graham Assault Course for youth in Great Baddow, Essex, whilst team leader with the 45th Army Youth Team. In 1974 he led an army expedition up the treacherous south face to the summit of the Matterhorn in Italy where he placed the Kohima flag.
Early Life
Caie excelled as a sportsman notably as Bosun of the British Weser Yacht Club and as the victor of the Northern Area Fireball Championships in 1970 and the Copenhagen Cup from Kiel in Germany to Copenhagen in Denmark in the Copenhagen Race in 1976. He was appointed Director of the NATO Sports Centre in Fussen Bavaria in 1977 and instructed the following: canoeing, sailing, advanced first aid, Mountain leadership and skiing both alpine and downhill.
1980s
After a tragic accident in 1982 resulting in the loss of his left eye, Caie turned toward the arts - his dream - and founded the Art Workshops in Augsburg in 1985 and in 1989 he was appointed Director of the Art and Culture Centre In Merching, Bavaria, where he directed all the arts: theatre, music and workshops. During this period of Caie’s career he founded the Group ‘All Arts Against War’ under the slogan ‘With a song and not a sword.’
1990s and 2000s
In 1990 he was knighted by The Grand Order of the Pavian. And so he continues to carry the honorary title of Ritter. From 1988 to 1990 he was Chairman of the Munich Caledonian Society.
Subsequently in 1992 he travelled to Northen Thailand where he founded an art workshop and taught Western European art styles. Whilst there he visited Thai artists the length and breadth of the country to promote the exchange of ideas and skills.
Then between 1993 and 1997 he became a resident local artist in Palm Beach Florida and won the accolade of the Centenary Artist for Palm Beach County. He was then appointed Director of Graphics for the Children’s Coalition of Florida. He was elected President of the Orchid City Art Guild. In 1995 he was made team member of the British Olympic Association - USA, Inc. for the Atlanta Olympics he gave an exhibition on sport art raising funds for the British Olympics. He was a founder member of the ‘Dead and Alive Poet’s Society in Palm Beach County. He was elected President of the cutting-edge International Gallery 123 West Palm Beach. Returning to the UK in 1997 he opened a studio on the Barge Alvracht moored near Kew.
The Royal Burma Society
The Alvracht is now by decree of the Crown Prince of Burma, HRH Prince Schwebomin to become the Royal Barge Karaweik on January 4th 2006. He was appointed Master and Commander of the Royal Barge Karaweik and Chief of protocol of the RBS.
On the 8th of January 2007 he was appointed President of the Royal Burma Society and on official functions he is the ADC to HRH Prince Schwebomin Crown Prince of Burma.
The Order Of The Knights Templar
In September 2009, Dr Caie Graham was inducted into The Order Of The Knights Templar as a Postulant and in January 2010 he was inducted as a Knight of the Order.
