Byungho Yoon (1936-2014) was a Korean-Canadian musician and composer, and a former Korean Youth Partisan member. Early Life Yoon was born in Jung Up village in southern Korea on November 11, 1936. He joined the Korean Youth Partisans to "defeat the U.S. imperialists and their allies." He was later imprisoned by enemy forces. He later joined the South Korean military band, learning to play the violin. <ref name="cpcml1"/> Canada In 1991, Yoon, his wife and two children immigrated to Canada. He continued his career in music and became a member of the York Symphonic Orchestra. He became a member of the Communist Party of Canada, as well as a member of the Korean Truth Commission. He later visited the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in 1994 and 2005. <ref name="cpcml1"/> Personal Life According to the Marxist-Leninist Party of Canada's website, he had a wife and three children; two of which were born in Korea.<ref name="cpcml1"/> Yoon was also anti-American, communist, and a supporter of Korean Re-Unification. Death After a series of strokes, Yoon died on July 8, 2014.
