Buckfire and Buckfire P.C. was founded by David and Vicky Buckfire in 1968, and later taken over by their sons Daniel and Lawrence. Practice Lawyers from the firm have been interviewed by national and local news outlets in conjunction with current events related to vehicle accidents, and have produced studies of car crash variations in an effort to decrease undue risks. In 2011 the firm created a smartphone app to guide accident victims through the steps to gather the necessary information they'll need for reporting the accident to the police and their insurance company. The app also helps victims take the right photos of damage caused by the accidents, audio recordings to describe the situation or gathering witness statements, and a GPS function to seek out help from others like tow trucks or taxi cabs. The app is distributed free of charge. The law firm also distributes short books on the subject of what to do following an accident or to prevent an accident. The law firm has also created other free applications for drivers, including a map of US motorcycle helmet laws state by state for motorcyclists driving long distances across the country. The law firm's efforts to explain the potential medical impacts of being in a car accident have been covered by legal textbooks. In 2012 the lawfirm also represented an office supplies company owned by Bradley Lott, a disabled US military veteran, against OfficeMax. Lawyers Lawyers at the firm include Robert J. Lantzy, who was noted in Super Lawyers Magazine as one of the top attorneys in Michigan. Both Daniel and Lawrence Buckfire have appeared on the DBusiness Business Journal top Detroit lawyers list. Buckfire & Buckfire attorney Tom Economy, represented a sexual abuse lawsuit against the Oxford Schools district in California, after a teacher at the student's school paid the student to perform sex acts. The suit was filed against the school board and the estate of the teacher, as the teacher had passed away the previous year.
