Brooklands photo archive

The Brooklands photo archive contains the photographic archives of The Brooklands Society. Brooklands was a motor-racing circuit in Surrey, England. It opened in 1907, and continued until 1939. It was also one of Britain's first airfields.
The archive contains around 5,000 photographs of Brooklands cars, motorbikes, riders, drivers, personalities and aircraft. They provide an important record of the early days of motor-racing.
Current state
"This website is as yet incomplete and is intended for reference purposes only, primarily by members of The Brooklands Society."
: (as of August 2008)
The archive makes very many images available, but they are grouped into relatively simple galleries and there is almost no captioning or metadata. Identifying the images, especially the rarer subjects, can be a difficult task, albeit fascinating.
Licensing
"Photographs may not be taken for third party use without first contacting The Brooklands Society. Under the terms of the legislation other parties may also hold copyright to many of the photographs shown on this website."
