Brook Ziporyn (born 1964) is an American sinologist and philosopher whose research focuses on Taoism, Confucianism, Chinese Buddhism, Chinese intellectual history, and comparative philosophy, with a specialty in Tiantai Buddhism. He is Professor of Chinese Religion, Philosophy, and Comparative Thought at University of Chicago Divinity School. He is also known for his translation and commentary of the Zhuangzi. Career Ziporyn received a BA in East Asian Languages and Civilizations from the University of Chicago, and earned a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in 1994.
