The Britsound Radio Show
The Britsound Radio Show is a one hour a week syndicated radio show that currently broadcasts exclusively British music to American audiences. The show is notable because it is the only radio show in America that plays just British music. The show was created by British radio DJ Rob Quicke in October 2005 and so far has had moderate success in America. The show is also available from the website as a podcast.
Each week the show plays both new and classic British music. Occasionally there are artist interviews as well. Previous interviews include Art Brut, Aqualung, Guillemots, Jamie Cullum, Chris Rea, Vib Gyor, Gomez, Supergrass, Editors, Elbow, Johnny Marr, The Silencers, Eric Burdon. Critical reception
Time Out Chicago magazine in its June 8, 2006 edition wrote that Britsound "exposes some great, largely unknown Brit bands. Listen in with pen and paper ready for gems...". Britsound's interview with Chris Rea was chosen as the feature interview in Chris Rea's "Farewell Tour 2006 - The Road to Hell and Back" Tour Programme.
Britain's The Independent newspaper published an article on April 22, 2007 on the success of British artists in the US and noted that the term 'Britsound' has been used as "radio stations in the US have begun calling it" to describe the new wave of British artists doing well in American charts.
