Brigadier General Edward Morton CBE

Brigadier General Edward Morton CBE (died 1948) was a General in the Boer and First World Wars. Not a great deal is currently known about him or what he achieved. It is known that he spent time in South Africa in the Boer War in 1899 and his reputation was such that there is a photograph of him in his families archives receiving General Kitchener (later Lord Kitchener) with his men from a train. His wife Adeline Louisa Morton (nee Langshaw) was a nurse on the front line during the First World War and received an honor details of which are unknown. Before the War General Morton spent time as a General in India. After the War he was awarded a CBE after refusing a Knighthood because he felt unworthy after what he had seen and experienced during the First World War.
