Brian Rockwell Williams

Brian Rockwell Williams is alleged to have killed both his mother (a prominent San Diego detective) and sister in July 2011, at their home in the Rancho Penasquitos neighborhood of San Diego. Williams is most notable for being a graduate and former football player at , the same high school attended by James Eagan Holmes, the alleged perpetrator of the 2012 Aurora shooting which killed 12 people.
Double Murder
In the early morning hours of July 18, 2011 residents called police after hearing screams from the Williams' house. When police arrived they found Brian Williams sitting next to the naked lifeless body of his sister, Briana "Bree" Williams, who was 18 years old, on a walkway near the driveway. She had suffered multiple knife wounds to the body, her throat was cut, and she had either fallen or was pushed from the second-story window. She was alive when paramedics arrived, but they were unable to save her.
Inside the house, police found Brian's mother, Donna Williams, a prominent San Diego child abuse detective. She also had multiple stab wounds to the body, in addition to having her throat cut, and was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials said when she was found, Donna Williams was wearing street clothes and may have been watching television before she was attacked.
Brian did not resist arrest and did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol officials said. Sources say Donna had been upset with her son because he wasn't taking his medications for schizophrenia and threatened to kick him out of the house.
Brian was later deemed incompetent to stand trial.
As of June 2012, his competency had been restored and the criminal charges against him have been reinstated. His trial is set to begin October 18, 2012. If convicted, he faces 52 years to life in prison. He has pleaded not guilty.
