Brenda Tan Sock Hua, born May 19, 1979, is a business coach and entrepreneur living in Singapore and expert on team management, leadership and organizational culture, and development. Brenda Tan was cited by PM Lee Hsien Loong in his National Day Rally 2008 as a young Singaporean whose life exemplifies the Singapore story. Youth and Education Brenda Tan Sock Hua was born in Singapore. In her own account, Brenda Tan was "just not academically inclined." She was enrolled in St Theresa’s Convent for 10 years, and continued her tertiary education at the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) (Clementi), where she graduated with a certificate in business and accounting, going on to qualify for her business course of choice at Ngee Ann Polytechnic in 1999. Early life and Career Upon graduation, Brenda joined Citibank Singapore as a telesales officer in 2002 and in 6 months, was promoted to Sales Supervisor managing a team of around 15 staff. Her responsibilities then included coaching and motivating her staff and tracking their productivity. With swift promotions over the years, she was given the opportunity to build a telesales department from scratch to a muilti-million dollar business. Brenda was also instrumental in supporting the independent business into a subsidiary of Citigroup in Malaysia. Her extensive career included active roles in the implementation of reorganizing changes, cross cultural management, outsourcing, sales and marketing, team and call centre management and training. With more than 80 staff under Brenda, her strong leadership and team management skills won her a prestigious CBM Supervisory Award as Unit Manager in 2007. Despite the travelling and work between Malaysia and Singapore, Brenda’s determination had her completed her degree in Bachelors of Science in Business Studies with National University of Ireland. After more than 3 years in Malaysia, Brenda returned to Singapore to manage the strategic alliances and acquisition marketing for the affluent segment - Citigold and Citigold Private Client. Even during those times in the corporate world, Brenda knew she had more to give. Having been blessed with the help of couple of great mentors in her life and career that has accelerated her learning and growth, she decided to move into business coaching with ActionCOACH. Brenda began her journey as a business coach in 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada where the ActionCOACH Global Office is based. Here she spent a period of time training with other new business coaches from around the world, taught by the world’ top 5 millionaire coaches. They learned the ins and outs of ActionCOACH, how to run a business the ActionCOACH way, branding, systems and techniques, as well as how to apply their knowledge to any business and much more. Brenda is passionate about motivation, training, personal development and transforming lives for the better. Her mission is to help individuals be better than who they think they are. Awards and Accolades In Citibank, her strong leadership and team management skills won her a prestigious CBM Supervisory Award as Unit Manager in 2007. She was also awarded for outstanding contribution to overall revenue growth, when she accelerated the team’s performance in exceeding planned targets. Other awards include Asia Pacific Champions Forum Sales Achiever and record credit card cross-sell and product launches. For her personal triumph, Brenda was one of three people given special mention by Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at his National Day Rally on Aug 18. In citing her achievements to the nation, Mr Lee noted that her life exemplified the Singapore story, being testament to the opportunities given to Singaporeans who have the drive to better their lives. For certainly, what Brenda may have lacked in academic pedigree in her early years - considered de rigueur by most for career success - she has more than made up for in derring- do. Personal Beliefs Being dynamic, confident and driven to succeed in life, Brenda believe in 3 major investments, namely reading self-improvement books, attending courses and having a good coach. She have multiple coaches for my business, fitness and personal interests such as competitive ballroom dancing and meditation.
