Brandon Buckman

Brandon Buckman (born February 14, 1984) is a first baseman for the Springfield Cardinals in the Texas League.
College
After his sophomore year, Buckman transferred to Nebraska from Garden City Community College. In 2005, he spent most of the season as the designated hitter starting twelve times at first base. He finished the season hitting .335 with 30 RBIs and two home runs. He had 18 multi-hit games. He was part of the 2005 College World Series team going 2-3 in 2 CWS games. Buckman hit .339 as a senior with 14 home runs and a team high 51 RBIs. he had four 4 hit games, 24 multi hit games, and 13 multi-RBI games including 2 in the 2006 Lincoln Regional but the Huskers lost both games. Buckman was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 19th round in the 2006 MLB Draft.
Minor League
After he got drafted, Buckman played right away with the Johnson City Cardinals of the Appalachian League. He had a .300 batting average and led the team in games (62), at bats (230), hits (69), doubles (17), and total bases (110). In the first half of the 2007 season, he played for the Class A Swing of the Quad Cities. He hit .341 and led the Midwest League in slugging percentage (.590), home runs (14), and total bases (154). He played for the West All-Stars in the All-Star game. On June 20, 2007 he was promoted to Advanced A Palm Beach where he had a .268 average with 52 hits, 27 RBIs and 5 home runs in 50 games.
