Borri

Borri are an Italian based company who manufacturers and distributes Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS). With over 75 years experience in their field they were founded in 1932 in Bibbiena, Tuscany, Italy. Borri has a number of offices and facilities globally, which extend across 4 continents. These include South America, Europe, Asia and Africa. Its UK headquarters are located in Sheffield, after integration with the Allis Electrical Company (AEC), originally based in Sheffield
Background
Since the companies launch in 1932, Borri’s activity involved design and manufacturing of electric equipment for industrial applications. From the 1960s onwards the main activity has been in the field of power conversion, both for domestic and export markets, with Thyristor Rectifiers and Battery Chargers, Thyristor and . From 1980 the company began to expand its bases in Asia, including Iran and
Product Range
Borri's ECO range of three phase UPS equipment is the only transformer-based type to have made it onto the government's Energy Technology List (ETL). The ETL is part of the Enhanced Capital Allowance Scheme and a key plank in the government's programme to fight climate change by providing tax incentives for businesses investing in equipment that meets energy-saving criteria.
Borri have a number of products in their range, which varies depending on how critical the application is. These vary on importance and are used on anything from National Healthcare to Self employed graphic designers. These products include Uninterruptible Power Supplies, Static Transfer Switches, Rectifiers, Battery Chargers, Voltage Converters, Lead Acid and NiCad Batteries.
Uninterruptible Power Supplies
These are used as a go between when there is a power outage. These run typically run up to 20 minutes allowing for the device in question to be powered from a generator or shut down to stop loss of data. Borri's products in this field run from 500VA for small applications, to 800kVA for larger projects. Larger projects are often server room based, and are for critical applications that cannot power down at any point.
Diesel Generators
A generator provides power when there is a drop in the voltage level that is being received by a device. These are often known as a voltage sag, which consists of either a dropout, a brownout or a blackout. They can also power through complete power failures, but only for a limited amount of time.
Static Transfer Switch
A transfer switch directs the flow of electricity from its primary source to its secondary source, which is normally a form of backup power. This type of backup normally stems from a type of generator, with an uninterruptible power supply managing the transition between the primary source and the generator.
UPS Batteries
Batteries for Power Solutions are quite self explanatory, as they provide the power for the system to keep it up and running. These batteries vary depending on the demand from the system in question. They range from 2,6 and 12 volts.
Quality Standards
Borri Italy, the manufacturing division of Borri UK, is qualified with an ISO 9001 quality assurance certificate. This certificate was gained in 2002 and has been held since then.
