Bolivian Express The Bolivian Express is an English language magazine in La Paz, Bolivia, set up in summer 2009. It is published by Express Press , which also produces Metro. The Bolivian Express is a non-profit organisation which produces a magazine per month, aiming to highlight the unique culture of Bolivia, and to provide a platform for cross-culture dialogue . History The magazine was founded by three Oxford University graduates, Amaru Villanueva Rance, Jack Kinsella and Xenia Elsaesser, and a Bolivian journalist, Ivan Rodriguez-Petkovic. The idea was inspired in part by the former 'Llama Express' in Bolivia, the Argentimes and publications at Oxford University. The founders were later joined by Sharoll Fernandez. The team collaborate online, with some directors based in La Paz, and others abroad. The Publication The Bolivian Express is a full colour magazine, generally of about 20 A4 pages, with the articles grouped under a heading that appears on the first page. Previous titles have included: Fringes, Top 10 and Carnival, and the magazine has currently produced 12 issues. The prominent theme of the publication is the culture of Bolivia, and articles always link to this, as well as encompassing activities that may interest tourists and the Bolivian locals. Writers Articles are researched and written by interns who live and work in an apartment rented by the publication, along with the two cats. They are admitted from all over the world, and are required to write approximately two double page articles for each month that they stay. They are also given classes in journalism, Spanish and photography.
