BobChatter

BobChatter is a free chat/ instant messaging client based on AJAX technology. BobChatter is cross-browser, iPhone- and iPod Touch-compatible and requires no downloads. All BobChatter conversations are searchable and viewable by the public, no conversations are keep private.
History
BobChatter was released in 2007 and was created by Freagair a San Diego based Internet company. The first release of BobChatter was an alpha release, with several non-AJAX features. In early 2008 the BobChatter team began to rewrite code and totally revamp the messaging service, making BobChatter 100% AJAX complaint. BobChatter 2.0 will have hundreds of improvements and added features. In mid 2008 the BobChatter team will open up the communication service by releasing an API for developers. BobChatter 2.0 for the Web was released on Saint Patrick's Day March 17, 2008.
In early April 2008, BobChatter's communication services where brought to a halt in order to transfer all services to FreeBSD servers. On April 23, 2008 BobChatter relaunched its services with thousands of fixes and new features. BobChatter 2.0 Mini for the Apple iPhone was released on May 13, 2008.
Features
BobChatter Alpha allows users to change background colors, find users, search limited conversations and provides a profanity filter. BobChatter 2.0 is highly customizable with the first 2.0 release featuring embedded gadgets, 100% synchronous environment, user-interface enhancements and greater customization than BobChatter Alpha. BobChatter 2.0 Mini for the iPhone has a revamped user interface, embedded Urloid Short Url conversion, and speed enhancements.
BobChatter 2.2 Mini introduces "Party" functionality to its iPhone/iPod Touch technology. A BobChatter "Party" allows any user to setup a custom chat environment where only users in the specified "party" are able to communicate. BobChatter "Parties" can be setup for private conversations or topic based communication.
