Bobbie Peru are a Manchester (UK) band formed in January 2006. They are Bert Genovese (vocals/guitar), Simon Archer aka 'Ding' (bass) and Adam Buckeridge (drums). Musical Style and Influences Their music is heavily influenced by the punk and post-punk movements. They sample aspects of many different genres into a mix of stabbing guitars with social commentary and an abrasive rhythm section. Creating an unsettling post-punk noise which brings to mind a bloody motorway pile-up between Fugazi, Sonic Youth and The Fall (but louder and more violent than all three), this is a band who wilfully walk the line between madness and off-beam genius. Discography Their debut album 'Social Suicide' was released in October 2007, to generally positive reviews. DJ Clint Boon of XFM Radio Live in Session described them as a "Brilliant band! Reminds me of the golden years of new wave and punk music" The band released the 3 track "1971" single in autumn 2007 with an accompanying video. In 2009 the next full length album was released, 'Kill the Autopilot'. It was recorded at 6 dB Studio in Salford, Manchester. Soon after there was a vinyl split 7" EP release with Kimono Draggin' (EP/Vinyl, 2010, Spaynsive Productions). Performances They supported Black Francis (of Pixies) on his 2008 Blue Finger European Tour, and The Fall on their 2008 UK tour. Since then the band have played recent support slots with Buzzcocks (2013) and Killing Joke (2014).
