Bob Beckel is an American television personality. He is seen frequently as a liberal political commentator on programs such as Hannity & Colmes and Larry King Live.
Beckel worked on the 1968 presidential campaign of Robert F. Kennedy and later volunteered in the Peace Corps, where he served in the Philippines from 1971 to 1972. Beckel has also worked as a consultant and, in 1984, campaign manager for Walter Mondale.
He became a born-again Christian in late 2000. He received a B.A. from Wagner College in Staten Island, New York, and teaches graduate level courses about campaign management at the George Washington University school of Political Management. He is credited for introducing the term "Where's the beef?" into politics.
In 2002 Beckel was involved in a controversy when he paid a prostitution organization $1,900 in personal checks, and then was blackmailed for an additional $50,000. Beckel reported the incidents to the authorities and resigned from his current political positions.
His brother is actor Graham Beckel.
