Blood Covenant

Blood Covenant is an unblack metal band formed in 2001 in Yerevan, Armenia. With two studio albums, they are the best-known christian metal band in Armenia.

History
Iron Cross (2001)

Blood Covenant was formed in 2001 as a Thrash/Death metal band Iron Cross in Yerevan, Armenia by guitarist Sergey "Segor" Areskin and drummer Garegin "Garik" Amyan. With vocalist Dave they released the Iron Cross demo in September 2001.

The Day of Lord (2002-2005)

In 2002 Segor became the vocalist, as Dave left the band. The band changed its name to Blood Covenant. Blood Covenant began to play Symphonic black metal. In 2003 Segor and Garik recorded The Day of Lord album, with Segor providing the guitars and vocals and Garik providing the bass, drums and keyboards.

The Blood of the New Covenant (2006-present)

By 2006 Blood Covenant had a full line-up with Segor(guitars/vocals), Garik(drums), Arbi Davudi(guitars), Gurgen Ghazaryan(keyboards) and Andrey Mailyan(bass). In early 2006 the band began writing their second studio album, The Blood of the New Covenant. They recorded and mixed it in 2006, but due to technical problems it was released on July 1, 2008. However in 2007 they made it available for download at www.zhesht.am, the most famous armenian metal website. The album features a re-recording of the song "Old Cross" originally from the album The Day of Lord. The album also features guest vocals by ex-Ayas vocalist Arthur Areskin(Segor's father) on songs "Old Cross", "The Blood of the New Covenant" and "Holy Sanctuary". In late 2007 Arbi Davudi left due to the inactivity of the band(Garik, who is a very important member of the band, went to serve the Armenian army for two years),he was replaced by Narek. The band have plans to record and release a new album in 2009, most likely after Segor releases his acoustic solo album.
