Blend Nightclub was a nightclub located at the Gatehouse on Friargate, Derby, UK. Its primary function was to promote house music and began from humble beginnings to becoming a hugely popular nightclub. The promoter and main resident DJ was Scott Lorimer, and the acts presented the best of the underground house scene from the US, UK and the rest of the world. The nightclub was immensely popular and attracted people from all over the Midlands and South Yorkshire. It was closed down due to a Police raid for 'drugs' and the venue has since re-opened and closed under the name 'red'. It is sorely missed and the locals are desperate for a similar night to re-open and bring the fun, happiness and good attitude back to Derby City centre on a Saturday night. Scott Lorimer has been reported to be running nights in the local Burton on Trent, but has been spotted in Derby City Centre. The specialist record store BPM (Beats per minute) where Scott worked for many years and was located on The Strand and few moments walk away from the venue has since sadly closed and has been turned into the clothes shop Scenario. The people of Derby deserve more nights with the top class DJ's that Blend brought to the city, the people of Derby have spoken out in a recent survey to confirm this. It is hoped that a new night can be launched bringing the same great times to Derby.
