Biomatters

Biomatters Limited is a bioinformatics software development company headquartered in Auckland, New Zealand. Biomatters creates applications for targeted biological analysis. Its main product is Geneious, a suite of software for molecular biology and genetics. Geneious allows scientists to assemble gene sequences, then manage analysis and peer review.
History
Biomatters was founded in 2003 by Daniel Batten, Alexei Drummond, Athena Ferreira and Julio Ferreira. Capital for Biomatters was raised through the IceHouse. In 2006, Biomatters released the first commercial version of their sequence analysis software, Geneious Pro. As of 2011, about 50 per cent of sales had been in North America, and 30 per cent in Europe. In September 2011 Biomatters opened offices in San Francisco and Newark in the US.
