History
The Biker Dogs Motorcycle Club sponsored its first annual charity event, the "Biker Dog Run", resulted in the first public awareness of the group's existence. The monthly national publication "Thunder Press" also featured an article on this event.
The club made headlines for a protest demonstration they organized against the City of Hollister for banning dogs from the Hollister Rally. "The Pinnacle" published an article "Dogs on hogs to invade Hollister" on June 19, 2003 along with a political cartoon lampooning the club. On July 5th, 2003, club members arrived on their motorcycles with their dogs and conducted their "Howllister Protest Run" demonstration, reading a document entitled "The Barklaration of Independence" and proclaiming July 5th as "Canine Independence Day". After the conclusion of the demonstration, all participants were ordered by the police to leave town. The leader of the protest was arrested, cited, released, and the charges later dropped by the city attorney.
