Be Chrool to Your Scuel

"Be Chrool to Your Scuel" is a song by heavy metal band Twisted Sister. It appeared on their 1985 album Come Out and Play. The song was written by lead singer Dee Snider and featured Alice Cooper on vocals with Snider. Other guest artists on the song included Billy Joel on piano, Brian Setzer of the Stray Cats on guitar and Clarence Clemons of The E Street Band on saxophone. The song and music video met some controversy since it sent a very strong "anti-school" message. Because of this MTV had refused to play the video. The song was, in part, a parody of the Beach Boys song, "Be True to Your School". The music video was of a school with a dark blue/grey interior with nearly all the students being zombies. The name is formed by taking part of "cruel" and switching it with part of "school"
The song was also featured in the 1986 film One Crazy Summer.
Music Video
At the beginning of the video, a text with a blank black background reads:
"Our videos are simply meant to be cartoons with human actors."
- Dee Snider
"It's just outrageous filth."
-Sen. Ernest Hollings
On the bottom of the screen a text reads:
U.S. Senate Readings on Rock Lyrics 9-28-85.
The video opens with Bobcat Goldthwait as a teacher talking to his class about random things that do not make sense. The bell rings and class rudely walks through him and he says that he can beat up anyone of them. He goes to the teachers lounge, listens to music on a cassette tape. The man sitting next to him asks: "What are you listening to?" And Snider screams "Twisted Sister!" The other guy asks: "Mind if I plug in?" and Snider accepts his request and the other man plugs in and plugs in his headphones and listens to the tape.
When the music finally starts, the teachers (now Snider and Alice Cooper) and the other band members are wearing their make-up and other costumes and begin performing the song in front of crowds of zombies, who are the students and staff at the school. The zombies also sing the backing vocals and play in a band. When the music ends, Snider is back to normal as the teacher again, and announces he has to go class and leaves the lounge. Just as soon as he steps out, he is suddenly attacked by a swarm of zombies!
