Bashir Lohar

Bashir Lohar is a Pakistani folk musician. The line-up of his group is dholl (drum), alghoza (double-headed flute), and jordi or chimtawhich (tongs used by blacksmiths).
Influences
The name Lohar means "blacksmith," and Bashir Lohar took his name from his musical guru
Alam Lohar with whom he stayed with for fourteen years. Alam Lohar's singing style had a profound influence on Bashir.
Alam Lohar died in in a car accident in 1980,a terrible blow for Bashir: "this was
the bitterest thing that has happened to me in my life.For two months I couldn't
speek,and it took two years before my voice was in full bloom again."
Bashir Lohar has been the Government of Pakistan's official representative at a cultural platform in London for the past ten years, and has also performed in Germany, Norway and Dubai.
Performances
*In 1994,he visited England as a member of National Cultural Delegation in the capacity of folk singer alongwith his accompanists.
*In 1995,he was again nominated for performance in Mucic Village London,where he gave over 20 performances in Manchester,Bred Ford and London
*In 1996,he along with his accompanists, was nominated for performance in I.T.B Berlin, where he won great acclaim.
*He is regularly rendering his performance in the National level concerts, organised
by PNCA and Ptv. Another credit which he enjoys is his performances for Golden
Jubilee Pakistan Express. He remained on board and gave about 50 performanes on 30 Railway
Stations
