Barra Brava F.C. is an American soccer club founded in 2008 by the D.C. United supporters group, La Barra Brava. The club currently consists of two men's teams: BBFC Premier and BBFC Select. Barra Brava F.C. Premier participates in the 1st Division of the Washington International Soccer League (WISL), while Select currently play in the WISL 3rd Division. History Barra Brava F.C. was founded in 2008 by members of D.C. United supporters’ group, La Barra Brava, who shared an interest in creating a high level soccer club dedicated to becoming a nationally competitive and recognized amateur club. Since its inception, Barra Brava F.C. has placed a high value on recruiting and retaining former college and professional level players interested in competing at the highest levels of United States amateur soccer. In order to accommodate tremendous local interest in being part of this unique club, Barra Brava F.C. Select was added to the club in the fall of 2009. The two teams of Barra Brava F.C. have experienced tremendous early success as both have quickly risen through the ranks of the Washington International Soccer League. Barra Brava F.C. Premier, in particular, has seen substantial on-the-field success, capturing 2 WISL Championships, 2 Supporters’ Charity Shields, and numerous indoor league championships. Premier roster Supporters' Charity Shield Since the inaugural event in 2009, Barra Brava F.C. has planned and hosted the “Supporters’ Charity Shield” soccer charity match to raise money for various charitable causes and to increase the club’s visibility in the local soccer community. The Supporters’ Charity Shield is a unique event in that it was started and planned by club members and dedicated fans of D.C. United. With United’s support, the event has become an annual demonstration of the club’s commitment to serving the community through philanthropy.
