Barb Rankin

Barb Rankin is an American lawyer and government official serving as the assistant Kansas Insurance Commissioner since 2019. She was the general counsel for the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) from 2011 to 2019 and served as its acting secretary from December 2011 to April 2012. Early life Rankin is from Wellsville, Kansas. Career Rankin joined Kansas Bankers Association (KBA) as part of the legal department and worked there for approximately two and a half years. She left in late 2005 or early 2006 to focus on family responsibilities, expressing an interest in returning to part-time work in banking at a later time. At the time of her appointment, she was serving as KDOT's general counsel. Rankin continued at KDOT as chief counsel until 2019, when Kansas Insurance Commissioner-elect Vicki Schmidt announced her appointment as assistant insurance commissioner. |
