Early life and education
Rosen was born in Israel in 1971. After completing high school, he served in the Israeli military.
Rosen was interested in either the business of diamonds, insurance, or real estate, and he finally decided to work as a real estate agent with his business partner, Asaf Tuchmair.
Career
Rosen opened a real estate agency in Raanana and began working as an agent with his partner Tuchmair. Breaking records in the first month, he opened a new and bigger office in 1995 called Penthouse Real Estate.
Intifada caused a severe crisis in the local economy in 1998, and he decided to move the operations to Toronto, Canada and established himself as an Israeli real estate pioneer. The company was named Canada-Israel and is a private company.
In 2006, Rosen’s company acquired another public company and named it Pangaya Real Estate. Within the next few years, Pangaya Real Estate changed its name to Israel-Canada, which trades on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange as a public company.
Canada-Israel remained a private company with most of its activities and projects happening outside of Israel, while Israel-Canada manages the operations in Israel.
In recent years, Barak Rosen and Assaf Tochmeier have expanded their business to the United States and Europe.
In addition, Rosen is also the owner of Tikun Olam, a company that grows and supplies medical marijuana and is licensed and supervised by the Ministry of Health in Israel.
In early 2021, Israel-Canada bought the Bank Leumi Tel Aviv Headquarters and planned to build a 40-floor high-rise on the site in central Tel Aviv. was the tallest building in Israel used for residential purposes upon its completion. In addition, Israel-Canada built the W-Prime tower and the W-Boutique tower in Tel Aviv.
His other notable projects include The Gymnasium Tower in Tel Aviv, Elifelet in Tel Aviv, Microsoft House in Herzliya Pituah, and Da Vinci in Tel Aviv.
Projects outside of Israel include Planetograd residential project in St. Petersburg, Russia, a 900-square metre complex purchased in collaboration with Electra.
In addition to residential and commercial real estate, Israel Canada, headed by Barak Rosen, is involved in several hotel projects, including the Hotel realm and the Play Midtown Hotel in Tel Aviv.
