Avishek Majumder is an Indian film composer, musician, singer and songwriter, working in Indian film industry. He started his career as a jingle composer and composing for non-film albums, he debuted as a film composer in the 2013 with Hindi feature film Four Two Ka One. He has also composed the background score for various films Gaddar: The Traitor Punjabi Feature film, Some of his latest and upcoming films are SaadeyCMSaab and Hindi con-com Udanchhoo Early Life Avishek was born in Siliguri, West Bengal, India in a middle-class Bengali family. Avishek began his early musical training at the age 4 with his Father Ashim Majumder gifting him his first keyboard, He studied in Saint Joseph School, Siliguri & later Lincoln High School, Siliguri till class 10th. In 2004 he moved to Mumbai, Maharashtra at the of age of 16 to pursue a career in music. In Mumbai he started training in western classical music & Jazz under Benedict D'silva, where he appeared for various exam with Trinity College, London School Of Music and Associate Board of Royal School of Music, London. Career Avishek began his career in 2007 composing for jingles for various advertising agencies, he composed for short films, documentaries, and advertising in Indian television channels. In 2009, he was approached by Anwer Khan to compose songs and background score for his Hindi Film, Four two Ka One which eventually released in 2013 In 2014 he composed songs & soundtrack for social-drama Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyon Aata Hai directed by Soumitra Ranade featuring Nandita Das, Manav Kaul & Saurabh Shukla, he also composed soundtrack for Vipin Parashar’s No Exit India’s first survival horror, both the films are currently under production and slated to release in 2016. In 2015 he composed score for his first Punjabi feature film Gadaar - The traitor, directed by Amitoj Mann and featuring the legendary Punjabi actor/singer Harbhajan Mann in lead role, the film received praises from the critics and audiences post release on 29th May 2015, followed by this he went on to compose songs and soundtrack for his next Punjabi Venture Saadey CM Saab, directed by Vipin Parashar, featuring Harbhajan Mann, Gurpreet Guggi, Kashish Singh, Rahul Singh, Dev Singh Gill, a satirical-political thriller set in modern times ready to release on 30th October 2015. In Saadey CM Saab, Avishek collaborated with the legendary singer Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan to render his vocals for a song, he also teamed up with various talented artists from Punjabi Music Industry Harbhajan Mann, Manpreet Shergil, Arsh Benipal and Bollywood Singers Harshdeep Kaur & Madhuhree Bhattacharya, the songs of the film are penned by Legendary Punjabi poet Babu Singh Mann and famous Urdu Poet SM Sadiq from Pakistan. Avishek is currently composing for some upcoming Bollywood films “Udanchhoo” directed by Vipin Parashar a con-com featuring Rajneesh Duggal, Saisha Sehgal, Prem Chopra, Bruna Abdullah and Ashutosh Rana in lead roles slated to release mid 2016. Music Characteristics Brought up in a Bengali family, hailing from a convent school and trained in Western and Hindustani classical music brings out a soulful flavor in his music. Avishek is noted for his film songs and soundtracks which combine melodies with different layers of harmonies with traditional instruments and synthesized sounds He uses a lot of vocal harmonies and melodic counterpoints fused with acoustic and digital instruments to bring out new color of sounds Personal life Avishek Majumder is the elder son of Ashim Majumder & Sipra Majumder, he has a younger sister Arpita Majumder who works as an editor in Bollywood. Avishek is also the founder of Tantra Music music, a music production company which caters services in various audio-visual solutions, also promotes young talents in the music industry. .
