Average frustrated chump

Average Frustrated Chump, often abbreviated "AFC," is seduction community jargon for a heterosexual male who is unsuccessful at finding sexual or romantic relationships with women. This person seeks attraction and longingly desires intimacy, but only finds cordial friendship and platonic love with women. The term AFC is pejorative, and is attributed to NLP teacher Ross Jeffries.
In The Game, Neil Strauss defines an "AFC" as: "a stereotypical nice guy who has no pickup skills or understanding of what attracts women; a man who tends to engage in supplicative and wimpy patterns of behavior around women he has not yet slept with."
Supposed Characteristics
In the seduction community, "supplication" is considered to be a common feature of the behavior of what they call "Average Frustrated Chumps". Strauss says supplication means "to put oneself in a servile or inferior position in order to please a woman, such as buying her a drink or changing an opinion in order to agree with her." The New York Sun uses the term to describe Steve Carell's role in The 40-Year-Old Virgin.
One of the major characteristics of a so-called "Average Frustrated Chumps" is that they are putatively often very reluctant to "take charge". It is claimed that they therefore so rarely get notable attention from females that they become extremely afraid of losing it when they actually do get some, often due to fears that it could be a very long time before they find another sexual partner if they make a wrong or ill-timed move. This, according to the argument, leads to the female getting frustrated with the situation and moving on. However, it is claimed, it can also lead to a female taking full advantage of the control the AFC has given her and essentially turning him into a puppet.
Adherents of the seduction community argue that women are generally not attracted to "Average Frustrated Chumps", and see them as "just friends", or just treat them as 'big brothers'. According to the alt.seduction.fast forum (an internet dating forum), an "Average Frustrated Chump" hears 'Let's Just Be Friends' from almost every girl he dates. Strauss claims that women give men this speech, often abbreviated "LJBF", to show a lack of romantic or sexual interest."
Supporters of the self-styled seduction community " also claim that "Average Frustrated Chumps" suffer from "one-itis," (which is seduction community jargon for 'obsessive crushes'). Strauss writes that "one-itis" is an "obsession with a girl whom one is not dating," and that "pickup artists believe that such an extreme fixation on one woman significantly lowers a man's chances of dating or sleeping with her."
