Aux Sable Records

Aux Sable Records is an American independent record label based in Chicago, IL. The label was founded in 2006 by musician and producer Kevin Lange in an effort to gain legitimate exposure for his music, and the music endeavors of his friends. The label is named after the Aux Sable Creek and the Aux Sable Cemetery which are located on the southwest edge of the town that the founders of the label grew up in.
Its headquarters is located in a business suite on Chicago’s North side Lakeview neighborhood, a thriving area for the indie rock scene. Many popular venues nearby include Metro, The Riviera Theatre, The Beat Kitchen, The Vic Theater, and The Aragon Ballroom. Co-founders David Stinnette and Steve Elmore are also quite active setting up shows and press exposure for signed acts as well as their own music projects.
The label achieved great success distributing records and merch for, and promoting, its two founding powerhouse bands Eight Hour Company and Polymnia Nyx. By early 2008, however, both of these bands have gone on hiatus.
In late 2007, signed act Victorian Halls was featured in Spin Magazine. Perry Farrell (of Jane's Addiction) commented that Victorian Halls was a "high-strung theatrical sound ... punchy and tight, the sound of Saturday night" and Tim Kasher (of The Good Life and Cursive) praised the band's "theatrical style."
In 2008 Aux Sable Records added two new bands to their roster, Shy Guy (an 8-bit NintendoCore project) and Handsomely Dishonest (an indie rock, acoustic, and piano influenced project).
In late 2008 the label finished building and equipping a full scale recording studio tentatively named KevCo Studios. Its sole purpose is to produce high quality demos for bands on the label, or friends of the label, at relatively low cost since studio time no longer has to be rented.
In December 2008, the label signed New York's Emma Tringali and The Walk Ins to its roster. Aux Sable Records' first family member from outside Illinois.
