Art Beins

Art Beins,is a 10th Dan and an award winning, Beins has been studying and teaching Karate for over 45 years. He has been training students since opening his first school in 1980. Beins has been inducted into 7 different Martial Arts and Wrestling Halls of Fame. When he competed for Monmouth College (Middlesex County College), he won the 1973 NJ State College Championship in the 158 lb. division.
In 1980 with the help of family and friends he opened his first Karate school in Howell N.J. This series aired for 8 years on Monmouth Cable in New Jersey from 1989-1997. Karate & You aired 2 times a week making it the longest running martial arts instructional program in the country. KARATE & YOU was not designed solely to promote United States Black Cat Kenpo Karate, but to promote all styles of the Martial Arts. In 2009 Beins produced an Instructional program, “THE BLACK BELT SUCCESS LIBRARY with approximately 8 1/2 hours of instruction. It provides the viewer with the necessary requirements to progress from White belt to Black belt in this system. This program comes with a handbook that will help optimize practice sessions at home.
Along with his instructors and students at Art Beins Karate, he promotes and participates in many charitable events and Karate tournaments.<ref name=Mesimer /> He finds that these events not only raise money but help to inspire people looking for the same outlet that he found many years ago. To date, his efforts have raised over $200,000 for many worthy causes. In acknowledgement of his efforts, both Mayors of Jackson and Howell NJ. Proclaimed “Master Art Beins Week” in 2010.<ref name=Mesimer />
Through his history as a high school wrestler, karate schools and his work in the community, Beins has been recognized as a positive role model. He has become a local icon as shown by being profiled in a book about the community; titled “Images of America: Howell and Farmingdale.” by Arcadia publishing.
