Arms of Kismet

Arms of Kismet is an American alternative pop group led by singer-songwriter Mark Doyon. Their debut album, Eponymous, was released in 2004. Cutting Room Rug appeared in 2005, followed by Play for Affection in 2010. All records were produced by Doyon and mastered by Jon Astley, a producer for Pete Townshend, George Harrison and Tori Amos. Arms of Kismet blends influences and styles ranging from British rock, country and psychedelia to punk and folk music.
Doyon spent the 1990s in Washington, D.C.-based Wampeters, and later exchanged that band's roots rock for a refracted pop The Daily Vault called "witty, idiosyncratic indie-rock that is to a band like Maroon 5 what a film like Sideways is to one like Miss Congeniality 2."
Doyon published a collection of short stories, Bonneville Stories, in 2001. His second book, the non-fiction Slingshot to Obscurity, will be published in 2011.
