Arkam Asylum

Arkam Asylum was a UK cyberpunk/coldwave band, formed in 1999, and signed to Wasp Factory Recordings. The band’s final performance was at the Cowley Club in July 2004, although their recordings are still distributed by Line Out Records.

The band, known as AA to fans, formed in the seaside town of Brighton around the same time as bands like Freudstein and Swarf, both of whom were also signed to Wasp Factory Recordings. The name of the band is a modified version of Arkham Asylum, the “h” having been removed for legal reasons.

During their brief existence, Arkam Asylum achieved a degree of visibility within the UK Industrial and Alternative scenes, releasing two albums, featuring on several compilations, and performing at a series of festivals including EuroRock (2001), the Whitby Gothic Weekend (2002), and InFest (2003).

AA's members now live in different places across Europe. Amon Zero is the lead singer of UK Industrial band Xykogen. Miette’s Brainchild plays bass with Istanbul-based jazz/noise group Pis Yabanci. Collectively, the three ex-members of the band are now known as Arkasai.
