Born in Algiers, Algeria, Arezki Daoud is a dual Algerian-American citizen. Currently residing in the town of Concord, in the US State of Massachusetts, he is the founder of The North Africa Journal and acts as its current Publisher and Editor. In addition to managing the publication, he is also lead analyst at the advisory firm, North Africa Advisors, which provides strategic consulting services to global corporations and governments on matters related to North Africa. Expertise Daoud is a leading analyst on North African affairs and he has been editor of The North Africa Journal since 1996. The publication reaches over 60,000 decision makers worldwide. As an expert on North Africa affairs, Mr. Daoud's analyses focus on a broad range of strategic topics relative to the region and syndicated in various press outlets. In addition to economic and business issues, topics of expertise include issues of civil liberties, regional geopolitics, to defense and security and domestic politics. His expertise in North Africa affairs provides him with public speaking opportunities such at the Washington-based Center for Strategic and International Studies or in private briefings. Over the years, Daoud worked for various institutions, from Algeria’s Naftal, a subsidiary of oil firm Sonatrach, in the late 1980s, to academia including Harvard University in Cambridge, MA as an analyst. In addition, he took part to a number of humanitarian campaigns, including with the International Red Cross, the EU, and the World Food Program, among which was a relief operation in the late 1980s to help the populations of the Sahel and West Africa deal with a massive locust invasion.
