Archive.is is a privately funded digital time capsule, with data-centre located in Europe at Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France. The archive runs Apache Hadoop and Apache Accumulo software. It retrieves one page at a time similar to WebCite, smaller than 50Mb each, but with Google Maps and Twitter included. Unlike free-walking crawlers like Wayback Machine, Archive.is does not obey robots. It captures textual content of web pages per request, as well as images, and content of frames, loaded or generated by Javascript on Web 2.0 sites without active elements or scripts. Screenshots are of 1024 × 768 pixels, with no popups. This service is a tool that can be used to crawl and save pages for use in citations in . Archive.is supports Memento application programming interface (API), and Firefox Plugin.
