Nomenclature
Sailor Morgan Stinemetz pointed out that Archer Rock and surrounding rocks on the Marblehead nautical chart (Gordon Rock, Sellman Berth, Lasque Ledge, Martin Rock, Tom Moore Rock, Gray's Rock and Williams Rock) appear to be named after the people who discovered them.
1600s shipwreck
A 2022 report documented local diver Ray Bates discovery of a shipwreck off Archer Rock. After getting permission to investigate from The Massachusetts Board of Underwater Archaeological Resources, Bates found human remains in the wreck. The wreck is understood to be from the 1600s, and bones of the deceased sailor indicate he was about 5-feet tall and aged 25, presumed to have drowned.
