Aranmula Aviation Ltd is a company promoted by NORKA - a consortium of Non-Residential Keralites Organizations in North America and Mount Zion Trust. The objective of the fictitious company is to build a private International airport at Aranmula without obtaining clearance, near Kozhencherry, in Pathanamthitta district of Central Travancore region in Kerala, India. The company is based at Kozhencherry. Modern runways need at least 3 kilometers of length. From the proposed location of the airport in Aranmula, it is not possible to make a 3 kilometer runway in any direction without massive land filling operations. The undulating land of the area also contributes to the extreme impracticality of constructing an airport of any significant size in that area. The KSG group has not made public any proposed map of the airport or the runway and has deliberately engaged the public in disinformation. A chennai based company named KGS group is the promoters of Aranmula Airport project now and they claims that the Airport will be commissioned on mid-2012. AAL acquired of land for the development of the airport. The project has been involved in environmental issues as construction of the airport involved conversion of wetlands and paddy fields. The owners of the project claimed to have received clearance from the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Environment and Forests, India by May 2009. The Government of Kerala approved the project in September 2010. It is set to begin domestic operations in 2012.
