Apoorva is an Indian actress who predominantly works in Telugu and Tamil film industry. She is known for item songs and seduction roles in movies. She made her debut in telugu industry with Maa Avida Mida Ottu Mee Avida Chala Manchidi in 2001. In 2018, she joined in the protest initiated by Sri Reddy against sexual exploitation in the Telugu film industry. These protests were compared to the Me Too movement and led to the involvement of the National Human Rights Commission of India in the issue. Protests were successful in the set of required framework as demanded. Activism In 2018, Apoorva actively participated in the protests with Telugu actress Sri Reddy Mallidi on the issue of sexual exploitation in Tollywood that was alleged to be happening on an a very large scale. The film body Movie Artistes Association (MAA) had banned Sri Reddy for the protest. In response to the way MAA banned Sri Reddy, Apoorva withdrew from the membership of the MAA in protest. In a press conference Apoorva encouraged the leading actors of the film industry to come out in support of women like they are portrayed fighting for women in the movies. The silence from the movie industry on the issue of the casting couch was also slammed by several actors. the National Human Rights Commission of India sent notices to I&B ministry of the Telangana government over Sri Reddy's protest. Finally, after the protests, MAA agreed to set up a "Committee Against Sexual Harassment" as demanded by the protestors and also revoked the ban it placed on actress Sri Reddy.
