Antonio C. Bonapace

Antonio C. Bonapace (born in 18 January 1921) is an accomplished Italian Scientist in the field of Mechanical Engineering having focused on researches such as combustion and gasification of coal, hydraulic transport of solids and development of hydraulic components for the automation industry.
Early Life and Career
Antonio C. Bonapace was born on 18 January 1921. He finished his Secondary Education at Liceo Scientifico in Merano, Italy. He completed his Bachelor’s degree at Politecnico di Milano where he also finished his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mechanical Engineering on June 1948.
Bonapace held various work appointments in the fields of automation and industrial control. Since 1959, his field of professional activities included hydraulic transport of solids, combustion and gasification of coals. He was also involved in the study on the abatement of coal dust explosions in mines. He specifically authored a publication entitled
"A General Theory Of The Hydraulic Transport Of Solids In Full Suspension". In addition, he published many works to his credit as well as with other colleagues. Some of these are "Smokeless Combustion of Bituminous Coal in Domestic Appliances"; "The De-ashing of Coal by Oil Agglomeration in an Experimental Washing Column"; "Critical Lift Velocity of a Particle Placed at the Boundary of a Stream"; "Particle Transport Hydraulics in Conduits Related to Boundary Conditions"; and "The Drag Coefficient of a Particle and the Voids Fraction in Fluidisation or Sedimentation Assembly of Particles".
