Anime Papers

Anime Papers is a content resource site hosting numerous collectives of anime related information including a wallpaper archive containing over 16,000 wallpapers from 354 series. Also of note is a scanned images gallery of over 35,000 images from 742 series. Most recently they have added an anime theme songs section as well.
History
Anime Papers began as strictly a wallpaper archive; with its unique features being endless nesting for deeper and more efficient categorization of wallpapers (see wallpaper sections such as My Little Pony, Pokemon, One Piece, and Naruto for examples). Beyond this it is driven by user pages maintaining a record of wallpapers uploaded, downloaded, and marked as favorites. Standard features used on many sites have also been polished and integrated such as the ability to identify a users resolution and optionally serve wallpapers only of that resolution.
Sections
Wallpapers
The wallpapers archive contains over 16,000 wallpapers from 354 series in total, and spans across the portable sector of Android and iOS phones up through the tablet resolutions of the Samsung Galaxy line / Nexus line / and iPad line, though most papers outside of that range can be re-purposed easily. The primary aim is still conventional computers with their standard Windows, Linux, and Macintosh operating systems, for which the majority of the wallpapers are made available. The wallpaper archive is powered by a custom designed and developed script and allows users to add their own wallpapers via direct upload, .zip files, or FTP with prior communication to the site administrator. ZIP files are handled in a way particularly of note, as multiple variants of a wallpaper can quickly be added to update the archive with, for example, 4:3 and 5:4 versions of a wallpaper, something outside of the auto-resize features scope.
Scans
The scans section of Anime Papers is a custom design based on the ZenPhoto framework and has been recognized for its excellence as a featured theme from July to the Present on Zenphoto.org, July being the month it was open sourced. The scans archive currently features content from 742 Anime series and continues to grow as well. All series are sorted alphabetically.
Anime Theme Songs
The anime theme songs section of the website is called “Anime Openings (and Closings!)”. It’s goal is to catalog community hosted videos of the opening and ending theme songs of various anime shows in Japanese and English versions. It adds value to these videos with listings of various applicable OST and Soundtrack CD’s from these series and places to locate copies of the songs for the user.
Open Source Contributions
ZenPapers is a minimalistic theme, open sourced by Anime Papers for the ZenPhoto Gallery CMS, utilizing modern flat design elements. It provides maximum above the fold visibility with a widescreen focus, hoping to give the best user retention with the primary elements in the initial view-port. Anything related to general navigation is seen immediately at the top, while user related navigation elements are below any viewed content but immediately visible.

The code base is simple and clean. 3,244 lines spread across 28 files. The design is built to be in line with oncoming HTML5 standards and to maintain maximum compatibility with all Zenphoto plugins, a large issue during the time of its creation as many themes were being decommissioned for not complying with current design guidelines.

ZenPapers currently implements:
* Wide thumbnails with a sub-album and image count where any album thumbnail is called.
* Modules for image statistics, image display, and gallery description at the bottom of the index.
* Previous/Next overlays for the image.php page, as well as thumbnail views of what the previous/next image is.
* Top Mounted navigation, clearly differentiated from the content.
* Maximum Flexibility, all theme options are editable from the backend, meaning flexible CSS and no hard coding so no headaches or incompatibility issues that result from them.
In addition to the ZenPapers theme, Anime Papers has contributed software modifications for modifying individual albums on a dynamic basis in any theme to create differentiation within a single gallery. These modifications are all licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported license and freely hosted on both Anime Papers itself and on GitHub.
