Angelo Starr is the brother and artistic heir to Edwin Starr.
Biography Angelo Starr (real name: Angelo Hatcher) is the brother of Motown singer Edwin Starr and featured within Edwin's band for much of his career.
Angelo Starr was asked by Edwin's manager and band members to step forward and front the band when Edwin passed away in 2003.
In 2007, Angelo signed a record deal with UK producer Ian Levine. Levine heard Angelo's similarity to Edwin (whom Levine had recorded for his Motorcity Records project in the early 90s).
Angelo Starr did the opening track "Stand on My Own Two Feet" for Levine's Northern Soul 2007 album. The song was also released on a 7" single backed with "Non Stop Destination". It was followed up by the song "There's a Storm Coming On" for Levine's Disco 2008 album.
