Andrew Stuart Pennington

Andrew Stuart Pennington is currently the National Sales Director for Porcelanosa.
He was born on 6 September 1964 in Stoke on Trent, England, Great Britain (UK).
Family
The family home resided in the historic city of Stoke-on-Trent (renowned as the ceramics capital of the world) and was only a few hundred yards from the birthplace and former home of Captain Edward John Smith of the Titanic who married relative, Sarah Eleanor Pennington in 1887.
Early Years
Andrew Pennington left school in 1981 and went to work in a fledgling company, Stone Coordinated Ceramics, unconventionally but successfully importing Swiss and Italian wall and floor tiles to major customers like Topps Tiles in Stoke on Trent.
Porcelain Development
A radically different set of technical requirements over normal ceramic tile saw Pennington embrace a technical education and subsequent marketing stance to overcome the industry’s near complete lack of understanding of the porcelain tile condition. Accomplishing huge strides in the development of porcelain technology, Stone Coordinated Ceramics with Pennington supplied porcelain floors for the Birmingham Airport Euro Hub, The Victoria & Albert Museum and Heathrow terminal 4.
Adhesives Technology
In 1994 Andrew Pennington joined RMC the UK Blue Chip Building Materials conglomerate and within 2 years he had conceived, formulated and launched the UK’s first brand specific porcelain tile adhesive Biscem Vitriflex.
1997 became a member of the NMTFA (National Master Tile Fixers Association) working group to compose the "Tiling to Gypsum Plaster on Masonry Surfaces" code of practice.
In 1998 Pennington was co-opted and subsequently elected to the board of the NTA (National Tile Association). In a role that saw liaison with the British manufacturers authoritative body, the BCTC (British Ceramic Tile Council) who eventually consolidated their membership along with the NMTFA (National Master Tile Fixers Association) and TPB (Tile Promotion Board) to form the enlarged single organization and newly named TTA (The Tile Association).
In January 2000 Pennington joined The Tile Association Marketing Committee and the following month was appointed as editorial contributor to Tile UK Magazine forming a successful partnership with well-known tile writer, editor and journalist Joe Simpson.
In May 2006 Andrew Pennington was also elected to serve as a Director on the Board of The Tile Association by member ballot. In the electoral campaign Pennington issued the following statement to the voting membership:
“The rising tide of membership will float many boats…I boarded the big ship that is the tile industry as a 16 year old in 1981. During my first year I became an expert at mitering the edges of millions of pieces of Italian watersplash tiles! Things got better…….Thank God for Tile Trim.”
