Andreas M. Kaplan, Professor of Marketing, is permanent faculty member at the ESCP Europe (Paris campus) where he teaches Advertising and Media management as well as International marketing. He also teaches Political and Public marketing at Sciences Po Paris. Before joining ESCP Europe, Andreas was part of the permanent faculty of ESSEC Business School. Research Professor Kaplan’s research deals with analyzing and decrypting virtual worlds, a specific form of social media that also include blogs, online/ content communities (e.g. Usenet, You Tube), collaborative projects, and social network sites (e.g. Facebook, My Space). The most popular representative of virtual social worlds is certainly Second Life, but others also exist such as Active Worlds and There.com. Moreover, Andreas did research in the areas of mass customization, customer lifetime value, and public marketing. Vita Andreas Kaplan (www.andreaskaplan.eu) did his PhD at the University of Cologne and HEC School of Management Paris. He was visiting PhD at the INSEAD. Additionally, he holds a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from the École Nationale d'Administration (ENA), an MSc from the ESCP Europe, and a BSc from the University of Munich.
