Ampaire Shakira

Ampaire Shakira (born 1991) is Ugandan Female chess player. She has held the Fide title of Woman Candidate Master since 2018.
Background and education
Ampaire is born to Bagenyi Saidi and Kyomugisha Gloria Ruth. She attained a degree in law from Uganda Christian University(2010-2014), and also attained a postgraduate Diploma in Law from Law Development Center(2014-2015).
Career
She is a lawyer by profession.She started her career as a chess player at the age of 11, inspired by her mother Kyomugisha Gloria Ruth. She missed out on the first try to attain the Woman Candidate Master by ½ a point in the Zone 4.2 African Individual Chess Championships in Ethiopia but that did not weigh her down. Ampaire emerged the unexpected winner in the women’s section of the Uganda Open Chess Championships with five points, beating pre-tournament favorites WFM Ivy Clare Amoko, WFM Goretti Angolikin and WFM Christine Namaganda to the gong. She attained the Woman Candidate Master Title at the Chess Olympiad in Batumi, Georgia in 2018 when she represented Uganda in the prestigious World Chess Olympiad.
