Americans for Legal Immigration
|
Americans for Legal Immigration is a United States political action committee which promotes reduction of illegal immigration. It maintains a website which is a compendium of articles, press releases, and activism alerts on illegal immigration. The site encourages Americans to stop illegal immigration by calling, faxing, and sending emails to lawmakers and candidates. Platform The organization advocates for reducing current legal immigration levels combined with English being declared the official language of America. The organization's four point platform calls for a "stop and reverse illegal immigration in America" by: # Secure America's Borders. # Crack down on employers that intentionally hire illegals. # Remove incentives and rewards to illegals such as licenses, welfare, and other taxpayer benefits. # Enforce existing laws and deport illegal aliens when convicted of crimes or detected during routine law enforcement activities. William Gheen William Gheen is the President and founder of ALIPAC. He manages all operations and serves as the national spokesman for the group. Prior to this role, Gheen worked as a campaign and elections consultant, participating in more than 40 campaigns for public office. He has also worked for many years for the North Carolina General Assembly as a Legislative Assistant, issue lobbyist, and assistant Sgt-At-Arms. == Rep. Joe Wilson's "You Lie" Comment to Obama == AFLIPAC defended Congressman Joe Wilson's exclamation "You Lie" at Obama during the joint session of Congress in September of 2009. Wilson said that his outburst had been spontaneous and was not premeditated. Licenses for Illegal Immigrants The organization said in response to presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and New York Governor Elliot Spitzer's efforts to give licenses to illegal immigrants that "the public feels that illegal immigrants should receive not public benefits, licenses, or in-state tuition.. anything short of emergency medical care... will only attract more illegal aliens." on CBS Evening News on November 01, 2007 Nomination of Sonia Sotomayor The organization opposed the nomination of Sonia Sotomayor to the US Supreme Court due to her membership in the national council of La Raza (Council of the Hispanic Race) and her statement "I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experience would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life." William Gheen, the president of ALI, called Sonia Sotomayor a “brown or Hispanic supremacist”. Illegal immigration as a form of invasion Gheen has used the platform of ALIPAC to spread his view of illegal immigration as a form of invasion. When Judge Susan Bolton ruled against parts of HB 1070, Gheen was angry with Bolton's decision, as well as with the Obama administration. In an interview with the Tea Party News Network on June 28, 2014, Gheen claimed that many illegal immigrants “may smile at you as they serve you your cheeseburger or peruse across your lawn with a weed eater” but in reality they blame Americans for the genocide of their ancestors and that illegals feel the only way you could balance that perceived debt would be “for you and your whole family to die" and that that Mexican schools teach students to hate America, so those who illegally immigrate to the U.S. show “no type of mercy” to “anyone out there that’s not a flaming socialist, communist or liberal.”
