American Socialist Party

The American Socialist Party is a multi-tendency plurality of democracy socialist political party in the United States.
The party is officially committed to unity of center-left democratic ideals through socialist institutions. The American Socialist Party has had varying support from those of like socialist perspective; yet, those persons want more unity and less divisiveness.
The party, like all forms of socialism is opposed to both capitalism and authoritarian "Communism" and supports a libertarian socialist solution of bringing big business under public ownership and rather than indirect state control. The Party advocates independent electoral action - sometimes referred to as localism or radical democracy - aimed at promoting socialist alternatives and categorically opposes the candidates of the two major parties.
Membership
Membership is open and free. There are no ideology requirements, purity test, only those seeking unity (synthesis) of ideologies.
History
There are no grand claims being made here as to the heritage of the American Socialist Party is that of all failed socialists divides within the socialist movement, the party is its product for unity.
The history is sad and comes from decades of infighting and tendency divides by ideologues.
Where the plethora of party platforms are used as purity tests and segregation hate laws from 1944 (Smith v. Allright) are being still used today to treat socialism as a "private club", in that, the vetting process can restrict membership from personal hatred.
The American Socialist Party’s process began during the 2000 elections when center-left parties began an all out internal attack on who was or was not a socialist, irregardless of facts and opinions. The American Socialist Party is now a decade past finger pointing. Many of the disenfranchised have become so many that a new school of socialist thought has arisen, which is to work within theory, based on citation for discourse and principles for debate.
The American Socialist Party helps all types of persons who want to be known as "socialist", without question to which center-left formation they claim.
