Cost Cutting in the Automobile Industry
In January of 2001 Chrysler imposed a 5 percent price cut on their 1st tier suppliers ArvinMeritor Inc which trickles down to the second tier providers such as American Boa Inc. The raw materials needed for the parts built by companies like American Boa are provided by big steel companies that have the liberty not to take a cut so the smaller middle man companies are the ones who absorb them.
Turn Around
The company is expected to hit $75 million in revenue for 2012, after sinking to $32 million in 2009 when GM and Chrysler filed bankruptcy. This is attributed to the chief financial officer who joined the company in 2007, Rune Are. Since implementing his turnaround plan, Cumming-based American BOA has seen a 134 percent increase in annual revenues over the past three years.
