Amelia Gray is a writer and professor, born in Tucson, Arizona, and currently living in Austin, Texas, USA
Amelia's short stories have been published in literary journals such as, American Short Fiction , Take the Handle, Spork, and McSweeny's among many others. She also helped organize the 5 Things readings series in Austin, Texas.
Her first collection of short stories entitled AM/PM was released in 2009 by independent publisher featherproof books in conjunction with their reading series Paper Egg. AM/PM is a series of interconnected flash fiction, linked by repeating characters and themes such as loneliness, personification of inanimate objects, and the struggle for meaningful human connection. Gray wrote two flash fictions a day, one in the morning, one in the afternoon, hence the name. Reviews for the work have been largely positive. HTMLGiant characterized the work as, "a refreshing, magical book, equipped with so much lucid linage that its hard not to want to read each page again and again". Some reviewers, however, expressed frustration at the small scope of the stories, including Steve Himmer who described the book as, "a bit claustrophobic"
