Alpha Theta Chi

There are two greek organizations with the official letters of Alpha Theta Chi, one a local fraternity at Hope College, the other a local sorority at University of Michigan. The two are independent of each other, yet mysteriously share a similar motto. There is also a local sorority located at Vincennes University, Vincennes, Indiana which is named Alpha Theta Chi. This sorority has been around since at least 1972.
Hope College - Alpha Theta Chi fraternity of Hope College was founded in 1966 on the principles of Brotherhood, Service, and Character. The original letters Phi Delta Chi were chosen, representing the main principles, but was later changed due to Phi Delta Chi being a national fraternity, and letters are protected. The campus name "Centurian" was adopted due to it being the 100th anniversary of Hope College's founding, the motto "Strength of Brotherhood is Unity of Diversity" was accepted along with the official colors red, black, white. The fraternity was disbanded in 1981 due to Hope College administrative decisions and dwindling greek numbers. In 1986 the fraternity was refounded, in 1992 the Centurians adopted the Kappa Beta Phi sorrority as their sister organization, and continues on to this day as an integral and prominent part of Hope College's greek life.
