Alice McCleary is a South Australian businesswoman who has served as a professional company director of various listed and unlisted public companies since 1998. She was appointed as a chair of Uranium SA in 2005 and director of Archer Exploration in 2007. She has been a director of Adelaide Community Healthcare Alliance since 2004. Previously she worked as a corporate tax partner at Coopers & Lybrand in the 1990s, and as a corporate tax manager for Ernst & Young in the 1980s. She is a council member of the South Australian Chamber of Mines & Energy (SACOME) and a former Deputy Chancellor of the University of South Australia. She is a public supporter of nuclear power. McCleary has played a key role in floating four companies on the Australian Stock Exchange including three minerals exploration companies and the first Chinese manufacturer to list in Australia. She also represents Australia on the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants, which sets the ethical standards for the world’s two and a half million accountants. She was a non-executive director of agribusiness Great Southern when it collapsed in 2009, owing investors approximately $1.8 billion.
