ALIANSA Colombia DC-3

On the 08th of May, 2014, an ALIANSA Colombia Douglas DC-3C operating a cargo flight from La Vanguardia Airport to Florencia Airport went missing en route to the airport. The Colombian Air Force is operating a search and rescue mission to locate both the missing aircraft and crew members. The missing aircraft has been located. None of the five occupants survived the accident.
Aircraft
The aircraft was a Colombian owned Douglas DC-3C, with two Pratt & Whitney R-1830-92 Twin Wasp engines. It operated its first maiden flight in 1942.
Previous Accident
On the 06th of November, 2010, the aircraft suffered substantial damage in a landing accident at Guerima Airport, while operating for Colombian cargo airline LASER Aéro Colombia. The pilot lost control while maneuvering the aircraft and ran into a trench, causing substantial damage to the right wing structure.
Accident
The Douglas DC-3C, operated by ALIANSA Colombia, left La Vanguardia Airport in the morning, bound for Florencia Airport. It was supposed to arrive at 12:45 local time, but failed to land. Minutes later, air traffic controllers alerted the National Center for Recovery of the Colombian Air Force, who organized a search and rescue mission after they failed to make contact with the aircraft. The Colombian Air Force are currently searching for the aircraft in the vicinity of La Uribe, in the Meta Department of Colombia. The missing aircraft was located on a forested ridge near the township of San Vicente del Caguán . None of the five occupants survived the crash. Although no formal reason of for the crash has yet been given, it appears that the aircraft impacted the ridge at high speed in low visibility weather.
